14 year old Malala Yousafzai, one of the 2011 nominees for the International Children’s Peace Prize, was severely injured in her hometown in the Swat Valley, Pakistan.
Malala was attacked along with 2 other girls on their way back from school. She was shot in the head and the neck, but successfully operated on in the hospital. The attack has already been claimed by the Taliban.
In 2011, Malala became one of the nominees for the International Children’s Peace Prize for her brave efforts to defend the basic rights of children in Pakistan, namely the right of girls to education. Malala is one of the few who stood up against the Talibanisation. She raised her voice for girls education, something the Taliban in her country tried to get banned. This makes her extremely brave but also vulnerable.
KidsRights strongly resents this attack against Malala. The rights of children should be respected everywhere in the world and children who actively promote them, should be honoured and listened to. Malala did not win the International Children’s Peace Prize 2011, but was awarded the National Peace Award by the Pakistan government that same year.
KidsRights regrets that children who fight for their rights are attacked for raising their voices. We hope that the attack on Malala will not discourage other children to stand up for their rights.
KidsRights wishes Malala strength and health in the coming days and weeks.

May God watch over the young people of Pakistan. I pray for this young lady’s life, and the lives of her friends.
One day when Christ shall come again….there will be no more fear or sorrow.
May the God of all bless this child with healing and peace…and hold accountable the ignorant and hateful who would harm such an innocent young girl.
Praying health, love, and Peace!!!
Bright star in the darkest of night, your job is not finished. Prayers for your highest and best!
U girls are brave…
These days are so very important for all of us when we know that if we stand up for something there may be one or more violent people who oppose what we think is important. I live in Washington DC and am glad for the many ways people can contribute toward world peace. This young girl’s stance has strengthened my hope for the world. Such a young person yet such a wise and valiant stance. I hope that she has a long life and that she always feels the sustaining love that her community and many, many people in the world hold for her. Thank you for creating the International Children’s Peace Prize; I’m sure that it is bringing much encouragement to many young people in many different communities. The children are the hope of the future.
I urge people of all faiths around the world to join me in praying for the recovery of Malala and her schoolmates, and for peace and tolerance in our world. Violence against our children, especially upon such a brave and inspirational young woman, must not be tolerated.
Brave young lady This type of person is needed to change leadership in all countries. Keep standing up Malala for the principals you believe in.
I would strongly recommend that Malala be nominated for this year’s Children’s Peace Prize. I don’t know of any other child who has raised a voice against supression under constant threats & is fighting for her life for what she believes in.
Adding to my recommendation above, the Peace Prize for Malala will send a positive message that bullets cannot shatter resolve!
My heart goes out to you, Malala. You are my hero!
My heart and love with much healing prayers goes out to this little peace maker!
Vulnerable … Brave … A Child… may her efforts and sacrifice not be in vain … I believe Malala should be nominated for The Children’s Peace Prize.
I wish for her a full recovery so that she may receive it in good health. For she certainly deserves it.
thank you
