In 2008, Mayra won the International Children’s Peace Prize. The three other nominees have all made an impressive difference in their environment, at a very young age, each in their own way:
Lovetta (15 years old) from Liberia, who is devoted to improving the living conditions of child-asylum seekers and former child-asylum seekers who are victims of the civil war in Liberia.
|| Baruani (15 years old) and Meshack (18 years old), who are both refugees from Congo, living in a refugee camp in Tanzania. They are devoted to the rights of child-asylum seekers who are victims of the civil war in the Congo.
Rishika (18 years old) from India, is devoted to the rights of underprivileged children, victims of child labour and child prostitution.
